Individual Therapy For Adults
The Benefits of Therapy
Individual therapy with our professionally trained and licensed therapists is designed to assist adults with addressing various concerns, problem solving and achieving individualized goals. Adults begin therapy for a variety of reasons when they are seeking help with reducing symptoms, addressing life stressors, managing mood, changing behaviors and navigating relationship difficulties.
Our therapists provide a safe and supportive environment for individuals so that they can process painful memories and feelings in an objective non-judgmental atmosphere. The therapist provides objective support and aids individuals with finding ways of coping with stress, negative feelings and challenges. The therapist and individual work together in a collaborative manner to find solutions and coping strategies to reduce symptoms and meet individual goals. The therapeutic relationship is rooted in trust and client confidentiality. The conversations between therapist and client are protected under therapist-client confidentiality, therefore what is discussed between therapist and client is private.
We provide evidence-based therapy for individuals which means that the treatment that we use with individuals has been shown to be effective with mental health disorders. Some of the types of therapy that we use is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Psychodynamic, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Interpersonal Therapy and Solution Therapy.

What can I expect at my first visit?
We understand that choosing to enter therapy is fearful for most individuals and they may have many concerns and questions. When individuals enter into therapy for the first visit, they will be asked to complete some paperwork either prior to the visit or at the visit. The therapist will go through a thorough history taking with the individual to find out how the problems have started, how long they have been occurring for and what the individual has done so far to cope with the problems. Together, the therapist and the individual will create a treatment plan and set goals. The length of therapy depends on what the individual is seeking help with, sometimes brief treatment is between 6 and 12 sessions while others may require a longer time in therapy. Throughout the duration of treatment, the therapist with elicit feedback from the individual to modify treatment as needed and decide on when to end treatment.
We will do our best to match individuals with an appropriate therapist during our phone screening process. In order for therapy to be effective, individuals must feel like their therapist is a good fit. Finding the right match is perhaps the most important step in the therapeutic process and it often takes a few sessions to know if therapist is a good fit. If you feel your therapist is not the right fit, please speak with him or her and we will assist you in finding someone more appropriate. Individuals can expect their therapist to be someone who demonstrates respect, provides support, listens attentively and actively, who challenges thinking about things in different ways, who provides honest and direct feedback, who is ethical and who models a healthy and positive relationship experience. Each therapist has an area of specialty which is outlined in their bio on our team page.
